I watched my son shave yesterday. There isn’t a huge amount of scruff on his face, although his upper lip does accumulate a fair amount of hair. He doesn’t shave daily, nor does he need to. Shaving for him doesn’t take long. Just a few quick swipes and he’s done.
So why did I watch this rather uninteresting activity? Because today my little boy turned 15. I was feeling sentimental, watching my little 5 lb. 14 oz. jaundice baby doing something so grown-up. He will be learning to drive soon. He has a girlfriend. He talks about plans after high school…Where did the time go?
This boy-man has gone from being the only child of a couple who overcame infertility to the oldest sibling of five kids. Because of him, I am a mother. He has been a joy to me and my husband through every stage of his life. I will be the first to admit I am not a perfect mother. But I am the mother that God thought would be perfect for him, and for that I am thankful.
